Extensive power outage in Khuzestan Province within recent years due to dust storms is another problem caused by lack of this strategic product which its mass production, fortunately, has become localized relying on domestic knowledge and capability and supports given by Barakat Foundation.

Thanks to supports and involvement of Barakat Foundation, an affiliated foundation of EIKO, Iran joined to six industrial countries that can manufacture Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS). This technical part plays a key role in distribution and transmission of electricity.

According to our reporter, GISs are produced by Toos Kat Khorasan Company in association with the Barakat Foundation. After completing various phases including designing, manufacturing and periodical tests, its international technical license has been issued and was approved by ILAC.

Following approval of Iranian GISs by the international technical authorities, Iran joined other producers of this strategic product; already production of such equipment exclusively belonged to only six countries in the world.

Thanks to achieving the capacity of producing such switchgears in Iran, the problem of long-standing outages and feeding many high-pressure electrical posts, whose exports was problematic because of international sanctions, was resolved.

It is necessary to explain that, since all switchgears installed in domestic high-pressure electrical posts, are supplied from other countries, problems caused by faults in internal parts and long process of supplying their spare parts from overseas, many power outage episodes were imposed to the electrical network.

A similar problem occurred in one of high-pressure posts in northeastern part of the country, where one of equipment related to switchgear was broken and we experienced a very long process to supply it because of oppressive sanctions against our country.
