
As many as 60,000 students living in remote rural areas in provinces such as Sistan and Baluchestan and South Khorasan were forced to drop out of school due to problems such as lack or remote schooling, traffic problems, lack of means of movement or facilities, and poverty, Managing Director of Barakat Foundation said.
By building schools, and dormitories, providing vehicles, and donating books and educational aids, the foundation has provided the students with the conditions for continuing their education, Mohammad Torkamaneh added.
Barakat Foundation has built 140 schools in areas that are situated far from the cities, he underscored.
He went on to say that the schools render services to 6,300 students.
The Foundation has also constructed and completed 19 boarding dormitories with a capacity of 2,150 students in rural and impassable areas of the country, he added.
To facilitate students' daily commute to schools, the Foundation has purchased and delivered 19 vans (minibuses), he noted.
So far, a variety of educational items, including books, stationery, and educational aids, have been donated to 50,000 students who are deprived of education, he said.
In addition to providing the opportunity for returning the students deprived of education to school, Barakat Foundation also creates jobs for the families of these students, he underscored.
The measure is done to empower the economy and provide sustainable livelihoods for the families of these students, he further noted.
By the end of last year, the Foundation launched 2,000 employment initiatives for families of children deprived of education and is implementing another 1,000, he stated

This year, the Foundation has prioritized the construction of 200 new schools with 1,000 classrooms, with the priority of replacing conex schools on the agenda, and has allocated 2,000 billion rials to this end, he said.
With the opening of these 200 new schools, the number of schools ready to be operated and completed will reach 2,000 schools with 11,000 classrooms by the end of the year 1401, he pointed out.
Currently, 3,750 villages across the country are covered by the Barakat Foundation's school-building activities, he said, adding that 250,000 students are studying in Barakat-built schools.
